‘God Was With Us’: House Fire Rages, but Couple Finds Bible Unharmed

A Texas couple is lucky to be alive after an early-morning house fire on Christmas took all of their belongings—except the family Bible.

WOAI-TV reports that Robert and Darla Voigt’s mobile home in San Antonio is a total loss after flames tore through it Saturday.

“I always thought this will never happen to me… that’s a lie,” said Robert.

They said it’s a blessing that everyone is OK, and what was left behind in the rubble, some might even call miraculous.

Reporter Amanda Henderson from News 4/Fox San Antonio tweeted images of the devastation and what remains of the family’s home. Fighting back the tears, Darla holds up their Bible.

“It’s going to be a phenomenal time.”

Those are the words Pastor Kent Christmas of Regeneration Church in Nashville, Tennessee, uses to describe “The Renewal,” a Jan. 8 event at the Strawberry Festival Amphitheater in Plant City, Florida, near Tampa, set to take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern.

Faith leaders will gather and share about America’s history, its spiritual foundations and the importance of its covenant with God. The Renewal is not a political event but part of a global movement of prayer and repentance spreading to all continents. It began Sept. 26, 2020, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., with “The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance.” An estimated 250,000 people attended the gathering, and about 42 million watched it on television or via simulcast in 180 nations in 90 languages. {eoa}
