The International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem welcomes the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, current president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, as a partnering leader in the annual global prayer movement for Jerusalem.
Featured as one of America’s “Seven Most Influential Hispanic Leaders” by The Wall Street Journal, Rodriguez officially endorses this international prayer initiative for Jerusalem and has committed to mobilizing membership churches to join millions of Christians in prayer on Oct. 6.
“More than ever, we are in an anti-Semitic wave, emerging not only on college and university campuses, but also in many public arenas and different governmental settings around the world,” Rodriguez explains. “It’s aiming again at Jerusalem and the Jewish people. The firewall against anti-Semitism in the 21st century is the body of Christ—the church of Jesus Christ.
“I encourage our 25,000 to 400,000 Hispanic evangelical churches throughout America and Puerto Rico to come together on the first Sunday of October—Oct. 6—as the church of Jesus Christ in prayer for the peace of Jerusalem. More than ever, we need to understand that these are troubled times; we need the church to rise up in righteousness and justice.”

Rodriguez joins 1,300 other Christian endorsers of this movement who represent different cultures and denominations, like Paul Cedar, Ron Luce, Kay Arthur, Jane Hansen, T.D. Jakes and Ravi Zacharias. Their united call is for all believers to fulfill the Lord’s mandate in Psalm 122:6 to pray for God’s peace, blessing and love to Jews, Arabs and Christians alike in God’s Holy City—Jerusalem.
Co-founded by Robert Stearns and Jack Hayford, the annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem takes place the first Sunday of every October. Churches from more than 175 nations participated last year, including those “underground” in seven Muslim nations.
