Former Speaker Newt Gingrich gave the finest speech of this young century on the threat to America by militant Islam at Congressman Steve King’s Iowa Summit over weekend. As to be expected, the secular media intelligentsia ignored Gingrich’s omen when he said:
“There is one common pattern occurring everywhere across the planet and that is radical Islamists, who hate our civilization, are prepared to cut off our heads and are determined to impose their religion by force.
“The No. 1 obligation of a government is to protect its people, and if you don’t do that, everything else is put at risk.
“I ask you to demand that every candidate who comes through here [Iowa] everyday from now to the Caucus has to answer, ‘What are you prepared to do to help defeat radical Islam, so that America and its allies can go into the future in freedom and safety?'”
Following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Franklin Graham called Islam a “very evil and wicked religion.” He continued, “True Islam cannot be practiced in this country. You can’t beat your wife. You cannot murder your children if you think they’ve committed adultery or something like that, which they do practice in these other countries.”
Islam is no religion of peace, Graham was dis-invited by the Pentagon leading into the National Day of Prayer in 2010 because of these comments, “It’s just horrific [Islam], if you just take women alone … I just don’t understand why the president would be giving Islam a pass.”
Ayaan Hirsi Ali, former member of Holland’s Parliament, born to a Muslim Somalian warlord, is now in hiding in the United States because of her stand on women’s rights; her friend and collaborator was murdered by Islamists. When asked to describe the incompatibility of Islam and women’s rights she replied:
“There is a whole list: Women will not be able to choose their own husbands; they will be forced into marriage. There will be child brides because Prophet Muhammad married a 9-year-old girl, and all Muslim men who want to marry an underage girl will invoke Muhammad and ignore the constitution of the country they live in. We have a whole institution of marriage and divorce in the West that protects women’s and children’s rights that will be turned upside down for women. It will discriminate against women; they will not get alimony, they can be divorced on a whim.
“Under Islam, the testimony of a woman is worth half of that of a man. If you are raped, you have to prove with four witnesses that you have been raped. all these civil rights that women have in the West do not exist [within most Islamic States]. Islam really institutionalizes a form of discrimination on women.”*
Having squandered the Judeo-Christian heritage of America, we most likely are heading into a time of testing. In God’s economy the wilderness produces fruit. “As there are certain vegetables, fruits and flowers which cannot be grown in the lands which are unvisited by nipping winds and biting frosts, so there are some fruits of the Spirit which are only produced in the soil of severe trials, troubles and tribulations.”**
Hagar saw God in the wilderness (Gen. 16:13-14). Moses saw God in the wilderness (Ex. 3:1-4). Elijah saw God in the wilderness (1 Kin. 19:4-18). David saw God in the wilderness—God trains His men and women in the desert. The American church, having married up with the world in the last 2-3 generations, will be regenerated in the wilderness.
In God’s unchanging order, “We seek sanctification, and trial will be the reply: We ask for more faith, and more affliction is the result: we pray for the spread of the gospel, and persecution scatters us. Nevertheless, it is good to ask on, for nothing which the Lord grants in his love can do us any harm. Terrible things will turn out to be blessed things after all, where they come in answer to prayer.”***
Islam will have to be dealt with if America is to survive, the anointed eye recognizes that the church will have to engage with the weapons of heaven: prayer and tears. There is no such thing as “radical” or “militant” Islam, it’s just Islam—period—because violence is what the Quran teaches.
Christian America will resurrect in the coming confrontation; we now need a Gideon or Rahab the Harlot to stand.
