You may not know his name, but you have likely heard or sung Brenton Brown’s songs. His music is played in concerts and has been covered by such acclaimed recording artists as Chris Tomlin, Rebecca St. James, Lincoln Brewster and Flyleaf’s Lacey Mosely.

Now listeners can hear from the man who wrote them, on his album, Introducing Brenton Brown. This project features such familiar songs as “Lord Reign in Me,” “All Who Are Thirsty” and “Hosanna (Praise Is Rising).”

“Everlasting God” was inspired by Isaiah 40. Brown says: “God is everlasting, unfailing, unflagging. There is no limit to His strength and energy. More than that, this powerful, always-strong God has compassion and mercy on those who call on Him. He lifts us up when we are weak … an enormously comforting and sometimes challenging truth that we have been able to hold on to.”

“Adoration” encourages listeners to always hold on to hope. Brown and his wife, Jude, have applied this principle to their own lives as they experienced the stillborn birth of their first baby, Gracie, and the emotional roller coaster of their pregnancy and healthy birth of Bella.

“Just singing this song was an act of faith. Jude and I felt incredibly empty and in so much pain, but we recognize that everything we need— and all that we love— is found in God, even our little girl that we lost,” Brownenton says. “We get to sense some of that in worship when we experience His presence and the hope and joy of what’s to come. We taste a little bit of the kingdom of God.”

Brown was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, and attended Oxford University in England as a Rhodes scholar pursuing political, philosophical and theological studies before he got involved with the new worship movement spearheaded by Vineyard Church. He also participated on the first albums led by worship leader Brian Doerksen. He co-produced two Vineyard U.K albums and was worship pastor at the Oxford Vineyard before moving to Malibu, Calif. Other classics he’s written are “Your Love Is Amazing,” “Holy” and “Humble King.”
