A vital test of a prophet is in his willingness to speak a hard word from God, then his willingness to accept the resulting reproach and persecution that is the normal burden of prophetic ministry. This is a test of surrender and consecration to God. Another vital test is being able to remain silent when God has not spoken, regardless of the apparent need of the moment. This is a test of honesty and integrity before God. A third vital test is the willingness to remain silent about something God has clearly revealed to you yet requires your silence on. This is a test of maturity and security in God. Some prophets want to ensure that they are always credited with having received revelation from God. Sometimes they’re like children who know a secret and just can’t stand it; they have to tell it to someone.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
Test my surrender and consecration to You, O God. Build me in honesty and integrity before You. Cause me to grow in maturity and security in You. Then I will be prepared to be Your spokesman.
Just because God divinely opens your eyes to a
certain revelation doesn’t necessarily
mean you are supposed to share it.
