Author and speaker Sadie Robertson spoke at the Passion 2020 conference about the love of God—specifically, the time Jesus questioned Peter with, “Do you love me?” (John 21:15). God loves you, but do you love God first and foremost in your life? Or rather, do you go searching for other things like relationships, drugs or alcohol to satisfy you?
“God’s love is not confusing; it’s not something you have to wonder about,” Robertson says. “It’s not something you have to worry about losing, because He is love. … Very different than ‘I like you.’ The ‘I like you’ would be about you doing something to be liked. The ‘I love you’ is about the person of love, who He is, giving of Himself to you—you don’t do a thing. He just is that good. The question is, do you love Him?”
