The sustaining power of Jesus is a promise from the Word of God. When you encounter a promise in Scripture, you need to begin confessing and declaring that word over your life. I love this passage from Isaiah 46:3-4:
Listen to Me, O house of Jacob,
and all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who are borne by Me from birth
and are carried from the womb:
And even to your old age I am He,
and even to your graying years I will carry you;
I have done it, and I will bear you;
even I will carry, and will deliver you.
In this passage, God is speaking to Jacob and the people of Israel, which you and I are in Jesus Christ. We have been grafted into the vine. He says that I have upheld you from birth, and I will sustain you to your grey headed years. This is a promise. Our God is a living God. He is not absent like many fathers from the lives of His children. He is right there with his children, helping them along, speaking life into them and helping them achieve every vision that He has for them.
When I first got saved, I didn’t know that God would sustain me. A new hope birthed inside of me as I began to hear His voice. He spoke wonderful things to me. He said my life would be blessed and that I would not be an orphan, that He was going to plant me into a family, and I would have a blessed home. That happened. I now have a wife and seven children.
I didn’t have faith for resources in the beginning; I have seen the miracle-working power of Jesus time and time again. The first financial miracle I remember was in 2005, when I was a new Christian. The Lord had told me to leave my government job behind and follow him. I did as He said and lived going from house to house. I stayed with missionaries and pastors for 9 months. I had $450 worth of bills each month and didn’t have any resources to pay. God told me to give the last $1,300 in savings that I had away.
I had phone calls from creditors and learned to negotiate with them, but their patience began to run thin when I didn’t pay after several months. I called out to God, and He answered. I had a friend who had no idea of my bills. She gave me $1,000, which was the exact amount I needed to pay them down. From that day on, I have never seen God not provide. He has sustained me in my ways and has provided for every vision that He has given me.
I pray for you today and declare that you too will come to understand the power of God to take care of His people. You were guarded from birth until now, and you shall live to see your grey hair; you will know that He is the God who keeps His word and takes care of His own.
