Jan Aldridge was born with a rare birth defect and was offered a corrective surgery with one catch: she would never speak again. She was miraculously healed at the age of 17, and her powerful story will leave you awestruck at the goodness of God. Doctors advised her mother to abort Jan after radiation therapy without knowing she was pregnant. Jan shares, “My mother was the first person to stand in the gap for me.” All the radiation gathered in Jan’s tongue, and when she was born, the doctors thought she would die during the night. A nurse prayed over her that evening, “She will live and not die and proclaim the works of the Lord.” Eighteen years later, Jan met that same nurse when she was sharing her testimony at a church.
Jan says, “Faith never denies the facts. The facts are not going to go away. People will say things. But faith comes in and puts a comma where the facts had an exclamation mark. It erases that. Faith puts a comma and says, ‘but God.’ You have to stand on the Word of God. You can’t go by what you feel, what you see, or what you hear.
“It’s like setting the thermostat in your mind. I can’t change the temperature in my house, but I have to set that thermostat for what I want. If you set the thermostat, it doesn’t get immediately changed. But when you see that number, you already feel warmer or cooler, because you know it’s coming. We live in a society where we want it now, but God has a reason. If you love Him and you trust Him, it’s in His timing.
“God didn’t call me to minister because I received a healing. He called me before I was in my mother’s womb. He didn’t attack my legs or my hands. Satan attacked the part of my body that God had already pre-ordained to use in the kingdom.”
