It’s in the hardest moments of your life that you learn to lean on God and trust in who He says He is. You have the opportunity to either turn from Him or allow your faith to be transformed into something tangible that you carry with you for the rest of your life.

For Tim and Aileen Challies, the overwhelming grief from the loss of their son Nicholas brought them to an eternal crossroad. Either truly walk the path of trust in God’s goodness or determine what they had believed in all these years was a lie. Their son Nick was engaged, in seminary and determined to enter into ministry when he died suddenly and unexpectedly on Nov. 3, 2020.

“I never turned on God or turned away from God, but I certainly had to reevaluate my relationship with God to say are all those things I thought true of God when the times are good, are they true of God now that great difficulty has come upon me,” Tim Challies says in an exclusive Charisma News interview.

As they sat and processed through the insurmountable pain and loss they decided each day to put their trust in the eternal God. “It came down to us either have to determine that either nothing we’ve ever believed is true and we’ve been living a lie or following a lie all these years or we’ve had to believe that everything we’ve believed is true,” he says.

The Challies decided to anchor themselves in the sovereignty of God, which they say means that “God is King in this world and nothing can happen in this world that God doesn’t permit.”

How can God help your unbelief? Challies says that somedays trusting God and His purposes can mean trying to find joy in the sorrow. Some days are easier while others are much more difficult.

In the video he talks about not allowing our feelings to be subjected to what you see around you in the natural. What is true, fixed and certain is what is written in the Word of God. Tune in to the full interview to hear how to deal with anxiety and depression after trauma and sorrow. {eoa}
