Jesus Christ taught us that there is a very narrow road that leads to eternal life, and there is a wide road that leads to destruction. He said that He is the only way of salvation.
He told us to stand on the truth of Godโs Word, maintain godly morals, love those who hate us and forgive all those who have wronged us. God has provided us with this moral standard not to restrict us but to protect us.
In todayโs world, truth is rejected by more of the population and is actually considered narrow-minded. Tolerance has become the high moral ground instead of truth. Weโre told we must accept everyoneโs beliefs, no matter how morally depraved. To speak the truth is considered offensive and exclusive.
Itโs true that the Bible says being a Christian is showing love and forgiveness to those who mistreat you and even hate you. However, it does not mean we tolerate immorality and compromise Godโs Word simply because society has changed. People change and the times change, but truth never changes. There is a right and a wrong, and Godโs Word is our standard.
As we look back on the example Jesus set, He did not tolerate the religious leadersโ actions. They did not practice what they preached. He told them they were hypocrites, liars, full of dead menโs bones and from their father the devil (see Matt. 23:13-39). When someone was in sin, He didnโt say, โI understand youโve had a bad day, so your wrong choices are excusable.โ He was not concerned with offending people, and He didnโt try to comfort them in their sin. He didnโt condemn them, but He told them to go and sin no more. Jesus showed love and forgiveness to everyone who called on His nameโand He still does today. He also told them to repent and turn from their lifestyles.
Christians are warned to stay away from evil, guard our eyes from what we watch and be wise with our associations. Jesus told us to follow Him. He told us not to look back and to keep His commandments. He told us to pray often, to read His Word daily and to guard our hearts. He told us not to speak evil or negatively about anyone. He told us to turn from our sins and to forgive others who sin against us. He told us to share His Word and to feed the poor. He said if someone takes our shirt, we should give them our coat too. He said to love our enemies, pray for those who despitefully use us, bless those who curse us and do good to them that hate us.

Are you up to the calling? Will you take a stand for Godโs Word? Will you take the wide road that most are traveling, or will you choose the narrow road traveled by few?
