Taylor Swift is holding nothing back on her latest album when it comes to her personal beliefs.

Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” is nothing short of blasphemous when it comes to her choice of lyrics. Using stories from Scripture in negative manners, Swift is using the Bible to flush out her anger.

In her song, “Guilty as Sin” the lyrics say:

What if I roll the stone away? / They’re gonna crucify me anyway / What if the way you hold me is actually what’s holy?

This clearly references to the actual pain and suffering Jesus went through on our behalf for the sins of the world. Swift has downplayed the most significant event in human history by comparing it to her tumultuous love life.

Another song, called “The Prophecy” uses references to the Garden of Eden and the changing of destiny.

I got cursed like Eve got bitten / Oh, was it punishment?

The song continues:

Change the prophecy / Don’t want money / Just someone who wants my company / Let it once be me / What do I have to speak to / About if they can redo the prophecy?

The album continues with the song “But Daddy I Love Him,” which uses rebellion, explicit language and describes two female heroines of the faith as nothing more than church gossips.

I just learned these people only raise you to cage you / Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best / Clutching their pearls, sighing, “What a mess” / I just learned these people try and save you ’cause they hate you.

Clearly, these lyrics are taking creative liberty about Swift’s love life and comparing them in negative ways about the truth of the gospel, that God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son.

On Facebook, worship leader Sean Feucht wrote, “Almost half the songs on Taylor Swift’s new album contain explicit lyrics (E), make fun of Christians and straight up blaspheme God.”

Swift’s background of using the occult and dark themes in her music is only becoming more explicit over time about how she truly feels when it comes to Christianity. Using the sacredness of Christ’s example is an insult to believers.

Recently, The Times of Israel reported that a Jewish mother created a Taylor Swift Haggadah themed book for Passover, which begins tonight. The book is currently the #1 new release in Jewish Sacred writings.

Whether Christian or Jew, people should be cautious about taking in and listening to Swift’s music. Old and New Testament beliefs appear to be up for grabs for Swift and her music filled with debauchery and self-centeredness. Perhaps this is the perfect time instead to pray for someone like Swift, that her eyes would be opened to the truth of the gospel.
