βIs your past holding you back?β
Rabbi Kirt Schneider asks this question with urgency, sincerity and hope in his recent message. His answer, rooted in Scripture and personal conviction, is clear: through the power of God and the blood of Jesus, you can be set free.
Rabbi Schneider pulls no punches as he addresses how many people live in the shadow of what once was. βSometimes we don’t understand how what we’ve been through in the past is causing us to be ineffective today,β he says. βCausing us to be ineffective in relationships, perhaps in our career.β
But God, Rabbi Schneider explains, is not distant from these struggles. βHe is in the ministry of delivering people from their past,β he says, drawing from the book of Exodus, specifically chapter 14, as a profound example of Godβs saving power.

He recounts how the Lord told Moses to speak to Israel as they faced the Red Sea: βDo not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lordβ¦for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.β Rabbi Schneider emphasizes the significance of this moment: βCan you believe with me today that God can set you free?β
For Schneider, this isn’t just about a story from ancient historyβitβs a living reality for believers today. βEven though for the whole time of your past days on earth you’ve been experiencing this negative thing, God can set you free from that thing in an instant, just like He did the children of Israel.β
But that freedom doesnβt come without movement. God told Moses, βWhy are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward.β Rabbi Schneider brings the point home: βThere comes a time where you need to take a step forward in the right directionβ¦believing He’s going to do something as you go forward.β
The message resonates: staying stuck in the pastβwallowing in regret, replaying old failures or listening to voices of shameβwill never lead to freedom. βStop accepting your past as a present reality,β Schneider says, βbecause once again in Christ Jesus, all things become new.β
The crossing of the Red Sea, he teaches, is symbolic of Christian baptism. βEven as Israel was supernaturally translated from Egypt to the other side of the sea with a brand-new life, you and I alsoβ¦our past life is buriedβ¦and we’re brought upβ¦a brand-new creation.β
He encourages listeners to lift their heads and believe in a future shaped by Godβs promises: βLetβs lift up our head. Letβs take our head out of the ground and believe that weβve been set free. The Scripture tells us that weβve been released from our sin by His blood.β
The message is hopeful, and Schneider delivers it with passion. βEvery day is a brand-new beginning,β he reminds us. βNo matter what happened yesterdayβ¦because of the blood of Messiah, you start over.β
As believers prepare to celebrate Passover, Rabbi Schneiderβs words strike a powerful chord: βPassover is about freedom and deliveranceβ¦the ultimate Lamb of God shed His blood on Passover to redeem us and set us free from our sins.β
And that freedom, he insists, is not just theologicalβitβs deeply personal. βLet go of the past. Donβt let it cling to you anymore. Donβt let Satanβs lies cling to you. Youβre destined for glory.β
A timely reminder for all of us.
