In one of the most vulnerable confessions he’s ever made public, Shahriq Khan shared the moment his life nearly ended — and the night Jesus stepped into his brokenness.
“I’m not giving you a quote. I’m not going to give you doctrine. I’m giving you the moment that I almost ended my own life,” Khan said. At 24 years old, after walking away from Islam but not yet knowing Christ, Khan found himself back in his childhood bedroom, “$40,000 in debt,” “over-drafted on all my accounts,” “addicted,” “suicidal” and “spiritually homeless.”

On Nov. 1, 2022, at 1:21 a.m., he typed out a desperate prayer. “Allah, please save me. Why is my mind letting me down? I am so numb and do not care about myself. Why can I not get my mind right? Every day is so painful. Every moment is so harsh.”
That night, there were “no angels, no thunder, no coming to Jesus moment.” Yet the next morning, something had shifted. Despite the ongoing calls from banks and the same crushing debt, Khan said, “Inside of me, there was peace.” A voice repeated in his spirit: “Get up and go. You have been healed.”
Khan didn’t hesitate to identify who had met him in that dark hour. “I knew from the bottom of my heart that was not Allah speaking. It was Jesus. And I knew exactly who was speaking to me because it was unlike anything I had ever felt before.”
The man he once mocked, the man he once debated against smugly from his frat house couch, was the only One who showed up. “When it came down to it, their God is the one who showed up. And He was the only one who showed up.”
What followed could only be described by Khan as pure grace. “I was $40,000 in debt. And in three months, I was free. I met mentors that I never earned. Opportunities that I didn’t apply for came out of nowhere. And influence that I never prayed for landed in my lap.” He emphasized, “I didn’t manifest this. I didn’t manifest anything. I was broken and I was buried and I was burned out of everything. And the only reason I made it out alive is because Jesus picked me up by the hair and He dragged me out.”

Khan’s message is a direct call to those struggling between two worlds: “If you’re still caught in between two worlds and you’re living this double life like I was… if you’re too scared to say the name Jesus because it might cost you literally everything in your life, I get it. …He’s not waiting for you to clean yourself up. He is not looking for perfect, eloquent, well-spoken prayers. And He’s not intimidated by your mess. All He needs is for you to break.”
