Kay Arthur, a pioneering Bible teacher, prolific author and co-founder of Precept Ministries International, passed away May 20, 2025, at the age of 91. Her death marks the end of a remarkable life devoted to Scripture and spiritual mentorship.

Born Nov. 11, 1933, in Jackson, Michigan, Arthur’s early years were marked by personal struggles and a search for meaning. After a failed marriage and a period of spiritual disconnection, she experienced a profound transformation in 1963, dedicating her life to Christ. This pivotal moment set her on a path of ministry and teaching.

In 1970, alongside her husband Jack, Arthur established Precept Ministries International in Chattanooga, Tennessee. What began as a small Bible study in their living room blossomed into a global ministry, reaching nearly 190 countries and offering resources in over 110 languages. Their mission was clear: to engage people in a relationship with God through knowing His Word.

Arthur’s teaching style was both rigorous and accessible, grounded in the inductive study method to empower individuals to discover biblical truths for themselves. Her television and radio program, Precepts for Life, aired for two decades, touching millions of lives worldwide. She authored more than 100 books and Bible study guides, including award-winning titles like Lord, I Need Grace to Make It Today and A Marriage Without Regrets.

Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2020, Arthur remained active in her ministry, demonstrating unwavering commitment to her calling. Her resilience and dedication served as an inspiration to many.

Arthur’s personal life was as rich as her professional one. She and Jack were married for 51 years until his passing in 2017. Together, they raised three sons: Tom, Mark and David. David took on the role of CEO at Precept Ministries in 2012, continuing the family legacy.

Arthur’s legacy is one of deep faith, relentless pursuit of truth and a passion for teaching others to study the Bible. Her life’s work has left an indelible mark on Christian education and discipleship. She will be remembered not only for her contributions to theology but also for her personal warmth, integrity and unwavering faith.

  1. In 2019, I began experiencing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, which was diagnosed in 2021. Among my severe symptoms were tremors, difficulty walking, weakness throughout my body, and stiffness and rigidity. My meds only provided temporary relief, so I decided to try other approaches and started the PD-5 treatment program from uine healthcentre. n et . With the help of this therapy regimen, I have seen significant improvements in my walking, balance, tremors, and appetite, and I have resumed my guitar playing again and sign my name as I had before Parkinson’s. I am incredibly grateful.
