K-LOVE, the largest Christian radio network in the U.S., has suspended music by Newsboys and DC Talk following sexual abuse allegations against former frontman Michael Tait.

“We are aware of the allegations against Michael Tait, former frontman of the Newsboys,” a K-LOVE spokeswoman told The Roys Report. “As the investigation proceeds, our prayers are with all those involved. In the meantime, our Programming Team is resting Newsboys and DC Talk music on our stream.”

The decision comes after The Roys Report published accounts from three men alleging that Tait sexually assaulted them in separate incidents between 2004 and 2014. One also claimed Tait offered him cocaine on the band’s tour bus. Tait has not responded publicly and left the band abruptly in January.

At the time, he said, “I have made for me what is a monumental and heartfelt decision that it is time to step down from Newsboys. This decision does not come lightly and has been a shock to even myself, but amidst prayer and fasting, I have clarity that this is the right decision.”

The remaining Newsboys members later stated Tait had admitted to “living a double life,” and expressed they were “horrified, heartbroken, and angry.”

As reported by The Christian Post, other Christian stations, including KYCC in Stockton, California, have also pulled Newsboys music. “We have already heard from listeners who believe that hearing the Newsboys on the radio would trigger negative emotions, and we agree,” KYCC said in a statement.

K-LOVE, owned by Educational Media Foundation, reaches over 14 million listeners weekly on more than 400 stations nationwide.

  1. Did God pull the trigger and decide not to use King David after his sin? Does ministry that has been accomplished in the past become null and void after a persons sins?

  2. This is wrong on so many levels.
Newsboys did not know of his double life, so why punish the band when Michael left before they knew.
When was the last time you played DC Talk?
This situation is between God and Michael Tait, not the band from the Newsboys or DCTalk.
You guys should reconsider your decision.

  3. Oddly, they are still playing songs from Michael Tait’s solo album. Just heard it “First Things First” on K-Love.
