Israel launched an airstrike attack against Iran in the early morning of Friday, June 13, 2025. According to CNN, the target of the strike was the nuclear and long-range missile program of Iran, with an Israeli official stating, that this is “not a one-day attack.“
There were dozens of strikes from Israel to Iran which were deemed to be “preemptive, precise, combined offensive.” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the United States was not involved. He stated, “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

In a statement video on the event, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the launch against Iran as “Operation Rising Lion.”
“Moments ago, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival,” says Netanyahu. “This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat. For decades, the tyrants of Tehran have brazenly, openly called for Israel’s destruction. They’ve backed up their genocidal rhetoric with a program to develop nuclear weapons. In recent years, Iran has produced enough highly enriched uranium for nine atom bombs.”
Netanyahu states that recently Iran has further sought ways to weaponize this uranium. He says that, “If not stopped, Iran could produce a nuclear weapon in a very short time.”
As tensions escalate and military operations continue, we must remember to continue to intercede in prayer and supplication for the peace of Jerusalem.
