Jenny Weaver’s story is one of extraordinary transformation, from trauma and torment to freedom and faith. Her life began in hardship, born to heroin-addicted parents battling withdrawals from the moment she entered the world. Though her mother gave her life to Christ shortly after Jenny’s birth, the enemy had already marked her life for destruction.
On the “We Need to Talk” podcast with Ezekiel Azonwu, Weaver shared how the church she was raised in was far from a place of light, but rather a breeding ground for darkness.

As a child, Jenny was raised in a Pentecostal-style church that, unbeknownst to her, was steeped in manipulation and occult practices. She recalls bizarre incidents where church mothers claimed to be angels, identifying themselves with names like “Michael,” and publicly shaming congregants. “I wouldn’t have known this was weird,” Weaver explains. “This was my introduction to church.”

The abuse she grew up around left Weaver sucking her thumb into adulthood, haunted by demonic visions and tormented by suicidal thoughts. “Something was wrong,” she says.
In high school, Jenny became captivated by witchcraft, influenced by the 1996 film The Craft. She and her friends mimicked the rituals and tattooed themselves with needles and ink. What started as innocent curiosity spiraled into deeper occult involvement. “I literally said I want to be Wiccan,” she recounts, believing it offered healing and control, something religion never gave her.
By 17, she was homeless, sleeping in the courtyard of an opera house in Sarasota, Florida. She descended further into addiction, ecstasy, heroin, meth, and criminal behavior. She was trapped in a cycle of darkness, drugs and despair. “We were kidnapping people,” she confesses. “Putting people in trunks until they paid for the drugs.”
Even pregnancy didn’t immediately bring change. Despite wanting to protect her unborn child, addiction still gripped her. In one of her darkest moments, alone, starving and filthy, she cried out: “God, help me.” Not long after, help came, though not in angelic form. It came with pounding on the door as police raided the motel room where she and her now-husband, Stephen, were caught.
That was the beginning of the end for the old Jenny, and the beginning of a new life in Christ.
