Jesus called the pure in heart blessed. Purity of heart has to do with our motives.
Love-driven leaders are as motivated to build people as they are to build a business.
You may have heard the legendary Zig Ziglar’s quote: “You don’t build a business—you build people— and then people build the business.”
That quote can also apply to your church, your family and your life.
Build yourself; build the people around you. God will then use you and others to build what He wants to build—in, through and around you.
Take some time to consider your motives.
Love-driven leaders pursue success, but not at the expense of the people around them.
Love-driven leaders pursue excellence, but not above being ambassadors for Christ in their conduct.
Love-driven leaders are motivated ultimately by a desire to glorify God. The apostle Paul reminds us of this in three passages of Scripture that help ground us in the pursuit of pure motives:
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. For you serve the Lord Christ” (Col. 3:23-24).
“Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31).
“Not serving when eyes are on you, but as pleasing men as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing any man does, he will receive the same from the Lord” (Eph. 6:6-8).
