Sept. 11 Memorial Service Criticized

Christian churches in a Houston suburb came under fire for excluding Jews and Muslims from an anniversary memorial service to remember the victims of the tragic events of Sept. 11.

A Jewish rabbi and a local Muslim cleric blasted the organizers of “One Voice: The Woodlands Remembers” as false advertising because representatives of their faiths were not invited to attend.

Greg Johnson, a local pastor and participating organizer of the event, said the Christians’ intent only was “to stand on certain values and principles that define us as a church.

Interfaith Of The Woodlands, a group including Christians, Jews and Muslims, was slated to hold an interfaith event at a local park to memorialize Sept. 11.
