According to the post, Swaggart decided at eight years old he wanted to ask God to give him the talent to play the piano. While his family was known for their musical abilities, this was not his reasoning for the desire to play the piano. Swaggart firmly believed, “He would hear my petition.”
In my petition I promised the Lord that if He would give me the talent, I would never use it in the ways of the world…No, I did not learn to play immediately, but little by little, the Lord began to help me, and in a short period of time, I learned to play fairly well.
Not only did Swaggart learn to play the piano, but God touched his heart with wisdom and knowledge regarding the purpose of praise and worship.
The Lord has helped me to touch millions with my music, and I do not exaggerate. Once again, look what the Lord has done. Also, I can quickly say that I have kept my promise to Him as it regards staying true to my calling. I have never used my talent in the world, but always for the glory of God.
