In his latest teaching, renowned Bible prophecy teacher Perry Stone unpacks a stirring connection between current geological upheavals and the spiritual signs of the times, calling believers to stay alert and steadfast in their walk with God. Titled The Abyss is Awakening, the message ties natural phenomena, like increased earthquakes, volcanic activity and strange oceanic events, to biblical prophecy and the soon return of Jesus.
“There’s definitely activity taking place now, even as I’m talking to you, around the area of the Ring of Fire,” Stone said. Referencing over 1,000 tremors near Japan just in late June and early July, he added, “Japan’s agency that tracks the earthquakes has noticed a 340% increase in tremors compared to the previous decade average.”

Stone also noted the appearance of oarfish—long associated with seismic folklore in Japan—washing ashore before recent quakes. “These appear during major earthquakes,” he said. “Oddly enough, when these 10,000 tremors occurred in that island south of Japan, these oarfish had washed up right before that.”
A Call to Confidence in Christ
Despite the unsettling nature of these signs, Stone’s tone remains hopeful, rooted in biblical assurance. Quoting Jesus’ words in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, he reminded viewers: “These things are going to happen. The sea and the waves are going to be roaring.” But for the believer, that’s not a reason to fear, it’s a reason to prepare.
“Don’t live that way,” he said of a fearful mindset. “Live with your confidence in the Lord.”
Stone tied these events into Joel 2’s prophetic imagery, “blood, fire, pillar of smoke,” which he believes represents volcanic eruptions that will precede the tribulation. Yet amid the shakings, he urges viewers not to be shaken in their faith.
“Get your house in order. Get your life in order. Make sure you’re following the Lord,” Stone said. “One of these days, you’ll go to find Perry Stone’s YouTube channel, and Perry Stone won’t be there… Serve him now. Be ready to go at any time.”
Watch and Pray
As world events continue to echo scriptural warnings, Stone encourages believers to live with expectation, not anxiety.
“Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith,” he said. “Be sober, be vigilant… Watch as well as pray.”
