In a press release, The Potter’s House made the announcement of the celebration to mark the incoming senior pastors.
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, The Potter’s House, one of the most influential churches in the world, will mark its 29th church anniversary with a momentous occasion: the formal installation of Pastors Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts as co-senior pastors. This milestone represents the long-planned succession of leadership publicly announced earlier this year by Bishop T.D. Jakes.
Far more than a ceremonial handoff, this moment signals the beginning of a bold new era for The Potter’s House, as Bishop T.D. Jakes shifts from senior pastor to legacy builder, expanding his global influence and redoubling his efforts to address economic, cultural, and spiritual needs through the T.D. Jakes Group.
The service is set to begin at 9 a.m. central time at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas. This comes after Bishop Jakes announced back in April that he would be handing over the megachurch to the couple.
“As I enter my 50th year in the public spotlight, I recognize the urgent need to address more challenges of our time, particularly the looming threat of a disappearing middle class, social unrest and closing opportunity gaps,” Jakes previously stated. “Elevating Pastor Touré and Pastor Sarah as the new senior pastors of The Potter’s House, we will honor our rich history while embracing a future that demands innovative ministry for the coming age.”

This also comes after Jakes recently addressed rumors about him visiting Sean “Diddy” Combs’ party to Oprah. ““I stopped by Puffy’s house for 30 minutes to say happy birthday to him during the day at two o’clock with staff people,” Jakes said, according to The Independent. Combs has since been acquitted for racketeering, but has been found guilty of two counts for transportation of individuals for prostitution over state lines.
