Inspired by Disney’s Escape to Witch Mountain and Return From Witch Mountain, this new film is a fast-paced, fun, family-friendly film. Las Vegas taxi driver Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson) is in for the adventure of a lifetime when two seemingly normal teenagers get into the back of his cab. The teens, Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig), are actually aliens who’ve come to Earth to save their planet.
These two have supernatural abilities, which they need to escape the ruthless enemy on their trail. The U.S. government is also on to them and trying to keep them from leaving Earth. But Jack is determined to protect them and help them make it to Witch Mountain, a governmental outpost for studying phenomena, including Sara and Seth’s spaceship.
This film is full of adventure, action and humor, and thankfully it has nothing to do with a witch. It does include discussion about aliens and UFOs, but still makes for a fun, clean movie that would be a great choice for family night. Race to Witch Mountain also demonstrates the value of friendship and going above and beyond to help others.
This movie is rated PG and is suitable for most ages, and the combat and fight scenes are not excessively violent. Race to Witch Mountain is available in a Blu-ray/two-disc DVD set, and bonus features include deleted scenes and bloopers.
