Why Conservative Christians Are Livid Over ‘Fuller House’

The ladies of

Whether it was Candace Cameron Bure’s too-short ensemble or the kisses between people of the same sex, conservative Christians are livid over the Full House reboot.

Bure, who frequently vocalizes her Christian faith, plays DJ Tanner-Fuller, a widow who returns to her childhood home in Fuller House. Her fans, though, apparently expected the show to be much more family-friendly.

“@candacecbure this show was such a disappointment and so inappropriate for my kids who waited for weeks to watch this. So bummed,” one fan commented on the star’s Instagram.

Another posted: “Our family was very disappointed. We were looking forward to it, because we watch the reruns with my daughter every night. Needless to say, we won’t be watching it as a family.#fullerhouseletdown”

Days before the show launched, Bure posted a photo with co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber with the trio all dolled up. Bure’s ensemble was significantly shorter than her co-stars’, causing a commenting uproar.

“Seriously though! I am so sad! I thought @Candacecbure stands up for Christian values?!?! This makes me so sad. I can’t let my kids watch this, is this how you dress?” one fan commented on the since-deleted photo.

Before the show’s premiere, Bure told media the show would still be appropriate for kids.

“Tonally, the show is very much the same, but it’s updated” she explains. “I’m sure a few of the jokes are a little bit racier now than they would have been in the ’90s, but it’s still nothing that’s inappropriate or that you would feel uncomfortable watching with your kids. We’re three grown women, and I have to say, we’re all pretty good-looking, too. [Laughs] We have some cute guys on the show, too, so that’s fun,” Bure said.

But faith-filled fans disagree.

“@candacecbure You should talk to Kirk about this new show you are promoting. I don’t think he’d approve. Where’s your witness?”
