Comet 31/ATLAS is the latest rare phenomenon that is stumping both stargazers and scientists alike. According to Yahoo News’ Popular Mechanics, this comet is “only the third interstellar object” that has ever been spotted in our solar system. With unknown origins, scientists are speculating that it is likely from the Milky Way as “some of the galaxy’s oldest stars.”
/**/Comet 31/ATLAS was reportedly discovered on July 1, and is believed to be from a segment of stars that is more than ten billion years old. If this is the case, then it could potentially be the oldest comet ever seen.
Throughout Scripture, celestial events often signified a shift in God’s divine timeline—whether through the star of Bethlehem heralding the Messiah’s birth or the prophetic mention in Joel and Revelation of signs in the sky preceding the return of Christ. If Comet 31/ATLAS indeed hails from ancient origins, its arrival could serve as a cosmic reminder that nothing escapes God’s sovereign orchestration, and that even the heavens declare His glory and His timing.
