A faith community in Toledo, Ohio, is reeling after a tragic accident claimed the life of one man and left a local pastor seriously injured. Now, believers around the country are being urged to lift up this church in prayer.

On Thursday, Apr. 17, Pastor Andrew Edwards of Northwest Baptist Church was driving church member Richard Miller home following a Bible study when a large tree and power lines suddenly fell onto their vehicle.
Miller, 35, died at the scene. Pastor Edwards sustained multiple serious injuries, including fractures to his sternum, clavicle and one of his vertebrae, along with a small brain bleed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains under intensive care. According to church updates, he is awake, responsive and showing signs of recovery, including the ability to speak and move all extremities.
The church community has been rallying in prayer and support.
/**/We are grateful to share that Pastor Edwards has been transferred from the ICU to the trauma unit following confirmation from the neurologist that the brain injury is of no immediate concern. Pastor Edwards awoke suddenly and expressed his desire to return to his pastoral duties, stating that he has much work to do. He was reassured that all responsibilities are being managed in his absence. We give thanks to the Lord for His continued healing and faithfulness.
The congregation is inviting believers everywhere to join them in prayer—for healing, comfort and strength in the midst of this heartbreaking time.
A funeral for Richard Miller is planned for Apr. 25, at Northwest Baptist Church.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident, described by emergency crews as a rare and tragic event. In the face of this sudden loss, the church clings to the promises of God and the hope of Christ.
