What happened over the weekend in Miamisburg, Ohio, should send shivers down our spines.
An Applebee’s restaurant was defaced with vile antisemitic graffiti—symbols of the swastika and hate-fueled messages including “Jews work here.”
This wasn’t in 1930s Germany. It was in 2025, in the heartland of America.
Cathy Gardner, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton, didn’t mince words.
Speaking to the Dayton Jewish Observer, she said: “We’ve seen the statistics, an 893% increase in antisemitic incidents in the United States over the past decade, according to the ADL.” The timing of the attack made it even more devastating—coming just before Yom Hashoah, the solemn remembrance of the Holocaust. “To see it here, the day before our Yom Hashoah remembrance, is devastating,” Gardner said. “It exhibits the Jew hatred that we know exists, and that was at the root of the horrors of the Holocaust.”

Let’s not ignore the warning signs. The rise of antisemitism is undeniable, and it’s global. The cries of “never again” are being drowned out by the same hatred that paved the road to Auschwitz. If history has taught us anything, it’s that silence and apathy in the face of rising hate are not options—they are accomplices.
Miamisburg Mayor Michelle Collins responded firmly: “There is no justification. Applebee’s has been a longstanding fixture in our community… This behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect our diverse, accepting community.” Applebee’s leadership echoed that sentiment. “We are disgusted by, and condemn, the vandalism,” said John Peyton, CEO of Dine Brands. “There is no place for antisemitic – or any form of – hate speech in our neighborhoods.”
/**/But the warning goes deeper than civic concern—it aligns with ancient prophecy. Scripture tells us the world will once again turn against Israel and the Jewish people. Zechariah 12:3 warns, “On that day, I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people.” The hatred we’re seeing today is not only historically familiar—it’s prophetically foretold.
We must take this seriously. The rise in antisemitism isn’t just a moral issue, it’s a spiritual one.
What’s unfolding around us is not just cultural decay; it’s a sign of the times. The world is aligning against God’s people once again, and we cannot afford to look the other way. History is repeating itself, but this time, prophecy says it will lead to something far greater. The question is: will we speak up now, or regret our silence later?
