In a sermon by renowned prophetic voice Jonathan Cahn, he warned how the world may be closer to the fulfillment of Revelation’s end-time prophecies than many realize.

With compelling insights, Cahn linked modern events—including nuclear threats and the Chernobyl disaster—to key apocalyptic signs described in Scripture.

The Growing Threat of Nuclear Destruction

Cahn began by highlighting a chilling reality: multiple nations now possess nuclear weapons, making mass destruction a tangible possibility for the first time in human history. With global powers like Russia, China, North Korea and Iran wielding such force, the potential for catastrophic devastation aligns with the fiery judgments described in Revelation.

Quoting Revelation 8:7, he pointed to the prophecy of a third of the earth being burned by fire, drawing a parallel to the nuclear capabilities that could fulfill such a scenario.

Chernobyl and the Wormwood Prophecy

One of Cahn’s most striking revelations centered on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 1986. He explained that in Russian, “Chernobyl” translates to “wormwood”—the very name given to the star in Revelation 8:10-11, which falls from the sky and poisons the waters.

Astonishingly, at the heart of Chernobyl stands the Wormwood Star memorial, depicting an angel blowing a trumpet—imagery directly from Revelation. Cahn suggested that this eerie coincidence may be a prophetic sign, foreshadowing the nuclear devastation yet to come.

“The fact that it happened in a place called Wormwood and involved poisoning of everything and was nuclear power, could that be a sign that these things, some of it, could come about nuclear destruction?” asks Cahn.

While Cahn warned against setting dates or making rigid predictions, he urged believers to be spiritually alert. The signs of the times are unfolding, and the body of Christ must be prepared for the return of the Lord.

As darkness increases, the light of Christ will shine even brighter through His people, offering redemption to a world on the brink.

  1. Here is the GOD-breathed interpretation from “The Journey Through Tribulation”. Remember that scripture interprets scripture.

    REVELATION CHAPTER 8
This chapter contains warnings of false religions and the refining of the chosen called out ones.

    Revelation 8:1-2
And when He had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

Silence in heaven is in anticipation of the Day of Wrath. The seven angels represent the spiritually complete Elect eagles. Trumpets are warnings from Father Yhovah.

    Revelation 8:3-4
And another angel came and stood, at the altar having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

The altar of incense for the wilderness tabernacle and temples was foursquare. New Jerusalem is foursquare, the measure of a man.

    Sabbath, May 07, 2011 A spoken Word:
The New Jerusalem is the measure of a man.

The golden censer and altar represent end-time harvesters. The intercessory prayers and praise are the incense. The smoke is Father Yhovah’s glory in us as we ascend spiritually. A Word was given to me through a prophet that helped me to understand verse 4.

    Monday, March 01, 2004 A spoken Word:
You are a sweet fragrance; you are the aroma that goes before My throne constantly.

    Revelation 8:5-6
And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar and cast it into the earth: and there
were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 And the seven angels which had the
seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

Voices and thunder are warnings about final judgment. Lightning symbolizes Father Yhovah’s glory. The fire signifies sinning believers getting sanctified before the earthquake.

    Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Hail represents judgment and fire represents the tribulation of sanctification. Blood represents dying-to-self as they become the dead-in-Christ. Trees and green grass signify sinning believers with a little life being sanctified. The third part belongs to Father Yhovah, learned from His OT prophet in:

    Zechariah 13:8-9
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, TWO PARTS THEREIN SHALL BE CUT OFF AND DIE; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on My name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is My people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Silver represents sinning believers and gold the perfected Elect overcomers.

    Revelation 8:8-9
And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood: 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea and had life died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

The mountain represents the church system and fire represents sanctification. These judgments are worldwide, the sea represents all peoples and a third part are sanctified and die-to-self earning eternal life. These had life, overcame, and became the dead-in-Christ, the Elect. Ships represent navigating through the trials and testing of sanctification as sinners are perfected.

    Revelation 8:10-11
The third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the, rivers and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters,
    because they were made bitter.

Star and lamp are the Angels and Elect end-time harvesters. The rivers, fountains, and water represent the true Word of God. The Elect are called wormwood because their testimony of the truth of the Kingdom gospel brings bitterness as they reveal false religions and sin and the need to repent and become the dead-in-Christ.

    Revelation 8:12
The fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a
third part of it, and the night likewise.

Father Yhovah’s third part is hidden within every religion. The sun represents Catholicism, and the moon represents Islam.

The stars being darkened is believers who are deceived by false religions and lose glory. Day represents the Kingdom of Light and good. Night represents the kingdom of darkness and evil. We were warned about the possibility of being deceived by Messiah Immanuel in:

    Luke 21:8
And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name, saying,I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

The new false religion of Catholicism was birthed at the Council of Laodicea in 363AD when its first pope Constantine threw out the seventh day Sabbath and threatened death to anyone found keeping it. Islam, a political and religion system, came into existence in 622AD.

    Revelation 8:13
And I beheld and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels,
    which are yet to sound!

In this case, the inhabiters of the earth means all of mankind.
