Oftentimes when we give, we are not able to see the full realization of how our giving truly can impact lives. We give in faith, believing that if God is in it, then it’s a good cause.
It was 10 years ago that we at Oral Roberts Ministries caught the vision God gave Neal and Danette Childs of Vie Abondante Ministries, and we partnered with them to go into this predominately Muslim region of the world and serve Him by bringing His love to the precious children of Niger.
A location for a school was found on a completely vacant, sandy desert ground and through the generous donations from the partners and friends of Oral Roberts Ministries, we were able to provide the funds for the land purchase.
Neal and Danette and some of my team walked the grounds, praying over it. And as they prayed, God showed them children, laughing and running and playing. We dedicated it to the Lord for His purposes and in 2011, a Christian primary and secondary school was founded.
It began with less than 50 local children. Their testimony has grown each year and because of the excellent reputation and high standards of the school, Muslim families are willing to send their children there to be educated. Today, they have approximately 360 in attendance, with less than 50 from Christian families.
Danette says, “The children, whether they recognize it or accept it, are affected by the love and presence of Christ and it is a witness—a beacon of light—to their parents and families,”
And it’s a witness that I believe will have a lasting impact for generations to come.
When God led us to help build a Christian primary school in Niger, West Africa, I did not know the impact it would have 10 years later. Parents recognize the good education being provided and are willing to send their children, even though their children come home singing about Jesus. This has proven to be a powerful ministry and has opened the door to develop relationships with many Muslim families.
