In a new teaching video, John Eckhardt went through principles in an ebook titled The Wind and the Word, exploring the powerful interplay between God’s Spirit and His spoken word—a dynamic force that is igniting miracles and releasing fresh spiritual momentum in the lives of many.

As Eckhardt points out, the movement of the Holy Spirit in Scripture is often represented by wind—described as the breath of God, or ruach in Hebrew and pneuma in Greek. This wind is not just a metaphor but a spiritual reality that precedes divine action. From the Genesis creation account to the Day of Pentecost, when the sound of a rushing mighty wind filled the upper room, the pattern is clear—when the Spirit moves and the word is spoken, miracles follow.

Eckhardt emphasizes that miracles often occur when believers respond to the wind of the Spirit with prophetic declarations. “When the Spirit of God is moving, that’s when we prophesy,” Eckhardt explains. “Why? Because when the breath of God is moving and we speak, creation, healing and breakthrough can be released.”

He further discusses that God stores up wind in spiritual storehouses, releasing it at appointed times for divine purposes. This wind, much like its natural counterpart, clears away stagnation, refreshes the atmosphere and causes seeds to be scattered and planted. In the same way, the wind of God moves people out of spiritual drought and into new life, purpose and breakthrough.

One of the key tenants that Eckhardt brings up is how the wind of the Holy Spirit can move you out of one difficult season into a new one: “Let the wind and the word melt the ice and any winter season in my life and let the waters flow.” This imagery connects to seasons of spiritual coldness or stagnation, where only the Spirit and the Word together can thaw the heart and bring fresh movement.

Eckhardt challenges prophetic people and leaders not to stay stuck in old paradigms. “What God did in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s is fine. This is a new season, this is a new year. Don’t get stuck in nostalgia with what God did 10, 15 years ago.” Those involved in the prophetic are encouraged to declare new things, citing Isaiah 42:9, which says, “New things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

The convergence of God’s breath—the wind—and His spoken word is igniting a fresh wave of prophetic power and breakthrough. The key is to remain open to the Spirit’s movement and boldly declare the new things God is bringing forth, stepping confidently into a future charged with hope and divine possibility.
