Double portion: What does that mean anyway?
Many have given some great commentary on what that could be. I have loved studying up on the lives of Elijah and Elisha to discover this.
I believe I am a double portion prophet.
A double portion prophet is someone who walks with mother and father prophets and catches the grace that they have to release.
In catching that grace, they are able to step into the anointing that their spiritual mentors operate in.
But that is not all.
They can step into the grace that God has given them as individuals as well.
Think about it: You as an individual never interact with another human. You then begin to minister. It may be powerful. It may be great. But it is only the anointing that you carry.
But what if you were able to be mentored by a prophet; from close or afar; through one-on-one connection or through books and teachings? Either way, you could begin to grow beyond your own understanding.
Don’t you love to pick up nuggets of revelation and understanding from people you respect? Do you step into those things once you have heard them?
I do.
I remember once I was reading a book from a saint gone on to be with the Lord. He talked about seeing how people were ready or not ready to receive the gift of tongues. I caught what he was saying.
That night I went out and had a meeting I ministered in. During that meeting, I tried the nuggets of wisdom he had given in his book in my meeting.
The same thing happened; I could see who was ready to be filled with the spirit. The same result happened; people got filled with the spirit.
That’s a small demonstration of what it is to receive a double portion. This is so exciting.
You don’t have to try to step into every spiritual gift on your own. You can walk with mentors and catch grace that will take you places you could never go on your own.
This is how healthy sons and daughters think. Orphans think they must get everything on their own. Nobody will help them.
You are not an orphan; you are a son and a daughter of the king. Sons and daughters know there is an inheritance to receive that they didn’t earn; they simply postured themselves in teachable places to receive it. That is who we are.
