On July 4, tragedy struck Kerrville, Texas, when a catastrophic flash flood claimed the lives of at least 82 people, with others still missing. Among those affected were families attending Camp Mystic, including a rodeo family personally connected to Pastor Troy Brewer. But amidst the heartbreak, many are asking: Could there be a prophetic message buried in the chaos?
Pastor Troy Brewer believes the answer is yes.

As Brewer pointed out in an interview with Charisma Media, Kerrville is the unique crossing point of two recent solar eclipses—one on Oct. 14, 2023, and another on Apr. 8, 2024. This geographic “X” over the region isn’t just coincidence to Brewer; it points directly to a towering monument called The Empty Cross, a 77-foot, 7-inch sculpture designed to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “The shadow pointed exactly to where we needed to look,” Brewer said. “And now, we’re looking at Kerrville. And if you look at Kerrville, you’ve got to look at the cross—and see that it’s empty.”
The flood occurred on America’s birthday—July 4—which Brewer says is also significant. He believes God is using these events to call the nation back to Him. “It’s not just a word for Texas. It’s a word for all of the United States,” he emphasized.
Beyond the symbolism, the devastation is very real. Torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to rise between 20 to 40 feet within an hour—so fast and so far that even camps located far from the riverbanks were consumed. Many victims were asleep when the floodwaters hit, their RVs swept away in the dark without warning.

In a moment of divine encouragement, Brewer shared that exactly 888 people have been officially rescued from the water—a number that matches the Greek numerical value for the name “Jesus.” For him, this is a reminder that even in the midst of loss, God is present.
But while reflecting on the supernatural, Brewer also called for practical action. Rather than sending more volunteers into an already chaotic rescue effort, he urged believers to be strategic. “Rescue the rescuers,” he said, encouraging churches to support those already on the frontlines with supplies, meals and prayer.
Above all, Brewer calls the Church to rise and respond—not just with relief, but with resurrection power. “This is not the government’s role,” he declared. “It’s the role of the people of Jesus. Christ in us is the hope of glory.”

As the nation mourns with Kerrville, Brewer says this moment demands more than sympathy—it calls for spiritual awakening. “Only the church can turn tragedy into testimony. The Lord is with us. He is resurrected from the dead. And He is the only hope America has.”
