In a time where anxiety, pressure and striving rule much of the world’s pace, God is inviting His people to return to the ancient practice of building spiritual altars, not of stone, but of habits, systems, and intentional surrender that host His presence and power.
In a recent video on “The Deep End with Taylor Welch,” Welch identified seven different structures that every Christian should build up in their life to see God work in wonderful and miraculous ways.
1. The Altar of Generosity
Generosity is more than a good deed. It is a spiritual principle that dismantles self-reliance. When we give freely, we break the altar of self-provision and activate supernatural multiplication. Scripture is clear: “Give, and it will be given to you…” (Luke 6:38). Even secular billionaires have experienced this principle at work. Generosity sends a signal into the spirit realm and invites God’s abundance.

2. The Altar of Protection
We should all be asking the question: who is your protector? Yourself or God? Many live under the altar of self-defense and grind culture, constantly striving to stay ahead. But the altar of God’s protection invites peace. Romans 8:31 declares, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” When you choose God as your protector, you can move forward without fear, trusting in His sovereign covering.
3. The Altar of Worship
Worship is not limited to a genre of music. Instead, it’s a lifestyle that changes atmospheres. True worship releases God’s fire into your situation. It breaks chains prayer alone cannot. Whether at the piano, in your car or at work, worship builds a dome of God’s presence around your life. As you worship, enemies in the spirit realm lose their grip because nothing can withstand the fiery presence Jesus.
4. The Altar of Contentment
In a world of constant craving, the altar of contentment says: “If I have Jesus, I have everything I need.” Rooted in John 15, building up this altar is about removing the pressure of performance and realigning your heart with the Father. When you build this altar, you’re no longer guided by cost-benefit analysis, but by obedience.
5. The Altar of Stewardship
Ask God not just what He wants you to do, but what He wants you to get good at. This altar is about developing skills and stewarding curiosity so you’re ready for the next season. God often leads by placing divine curiosity in your heart. Follow that, and you’ll find yourself exactly where He wants you.
6. The Altar of Purity in Government and Culture
God is raising up voices of purity in politics, public service and culture. This altar is a prophetic call for those positioned in these spheres to carry truth, righteousness and courage in a compromised world.
7. The Altar of Education
Education shapes the future. God is calling believers to influence the classroom with truth, wisdom and revelation of Christ as Lord of all. This is to help ensure that heaven’s perspective is present in the minds of the next generation.
