If you ask Marilyn Hickey what the key to her blessed life is, she’d say it’s reading the Bible, speaking the Bible and doing the Bible. Together, all three components are vital. Marilyn’s newest book, Read It, Speak It, Do It, shows that following that pattern leads to a highly productive life.
At the age of 11, Marilyn asked God, “Where are You? What church are You in? I want to go where You are.” God’s response was, “I am in the Word.” And that was the beginning of Marilyn’s living a life saturated with the Word of God.
Because God desires the Word to be the center of your life, you need to read the Bible. If you don’t know where to begin, Marilyn suggests that you start reading Psalms and Proverbs. “Psalms will warm your heart and Proverbs will warm your brain,” she says.
Do you need an answer to prayer? Marilyn says if you don’t get answers to your prayers, you might not be praying the Bible. Remember, the Word does not return void. If you have a need, identify one of the thousands of promises in the Bible that speaks to your need. Pray that promise, and speak the promise to the problem.
The Word has the power to move and change circumstances. Marilyn says, “The Bible was written for you—so put it into faith!”
Daily Bible reading is crucial to living a productive, blessed life. Marilyn says, “You need to get the Bible into your heart, and it will work in your life, in your family’s life, finances and health.”
