Most Christians have at least a passing interest in the topic of the end times. We love to consider timelines, interpret symbols from Revelation, debate the rapture and define the aspects of the Millennium.
But we don’t hear too much on the great falling away that Jesus declared would occur before His Second Coming. Just who is it that can commit apostasy, and should any of us who are Jesus-followers be concerned?
After discussing this topic with friends and fellow pastors, I was led by Holy Spirit to record five podcast episodes to help teach through the volume of Scriptures that declare to us who is at risk and who is safe. My views break rank with many Charismatics who equally and eagerly are living for the return of Jesus. It is not about what we feel or what we have been taught by sincere preachers, teachers and prophets—we must draw our answers from the written Word of God.
In the first episode, I go straight to the heart of the matter and show undeniably who is at risk of falling in the coming apostasy. After that, I help Christians who are concerned about whether or not they will make it, and I share a conclusion that is likely to surprise many. The third of the five episodes contains the most informative and reassuring words of Jesus and John for any and all who are plagued with doubting the endurance of their salvation. The fourth episode helps us understand the heart of God and how committed He is to leading us through the coming test of our faith. Finally, the very troubling words of Hebrews 6:4-6 is taught with passion and precision, which should settle the matter for any and all who listened to the previous four episodes.
My hope is that we Christians will not merely remain curious about this topic but boldly informed and living confidently as we approach the end of the age. There is no doubt that the beginning of the great falling away is already manifesting, but none of us need fear that we will be among the deceived. {eoa}
