Everyone knows that family is important. But why is family so important to us as Christians?
In this episode of Truth Talks on the Charisma Podcast Network, Pastor Ché Ahn says that when God made us in His image and His likeness, He created us for relationship. Relationship with God and relationship with one another begins with your family.
We are also created for family, and if we don’t have a family life, we look for family in gangs, clubs, associations, sports and so on. It is interesting that when basketball legend Kobe Bryant passed away in January 2020, people started to talk about the “Laker family.” Ice Cube was interviewed on NBA Jump, and he said, “No matter what your race is, or socioeconomic status or education background, we are all united by those who love the Lakers basketball team.” In a way, he was describing what the true church ought to be, but he was using the Laker family as a metaphor.
Pastor Ché affirms that you will not find that sense of belonging and the sense of purpose in your life until you become an active member of God’s family, the church. This episode unpacks two truths of God’s family that will give you a sense of purpose and belonging—God’s original purposes for family and the church’s role in restoring God’s family.
