I had recently graduated from Oral Roberts University and had started graduate school at Oklahoma University. I was seeking God’s guidance in many areas of my life, including finding a Christian husband.
One day, my non-Christian landlady mentioned a special meeting being advertised with author and speaker Keith Miller, who would be sharing about his book Taste of New Wine. I went to the meeting that week on a Wednesday evening. The church was full with only one seat open. I sat down and enjoyed the rich teaching on the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
At the end of the service, Keith Miller said, We are going to pass offering baskets and I want you to write on a piece of paper your biggest desire. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your request and then believe God is going to answer. I wrote on my little slip of paper, I want a Christian husband.
After the meeting, I turned around and a handsome, tall, young man introduced himself. We chatted at the reception after the meeting. That man has been my husband for 33 years. We have three children who are passionately serving the Lord. I taught in the Christian school our children attended for 13 years.
We have traveled as a family on mission trips to the Philippines and we have traveled the world. The Lord has blessed us with more than we could have ever dreamed. His faithfulness and love for His children makes life an adventure.
