Watermark fans will be thrilled to hear Christy Nockels again on her first solo album. Life Light Up is a collection of songs of surrender and anthems of praise and worship, all of which will encourage listeners as they dwell on who God is and what He has done.
Opener “No Not One” proclaims that there is nothing greater than Jesus. The title track is a prayer that our lives would show Christ to the world. “Choose” is a beautiful cry of surrender, declaring that we will choose to be in love with Jesus, to love what He loves. “You Are Able” picks up the pace a bit and will build listeners’ faith as they put their trust in Him.
“By Our Love” has a soft melody but is a powerful challenge to the church: “The time is now / Come church arise / Love with His hands / See with His eyes / Bind it around you / Let it never leave you / And they will know us by our love.”
With her unmistakable voice, Nockels offers songs that focus on the Lord and remind us that we are to be a light to the world. We can only hope that Life Light Up is the first in a long list of solo albums.
