AG Opens 7:14 Prayer Room During 55th General Council

AG General Council

The Office of Prayer and Spiritual Care (OPSC) is partnering with Pastor John Bates and the Freedom Fellowship International prayer team from Waxahachie, Texas, to provide a powerful prayer opportunity for all attending the 55th General Council of the Assemblies of God in Orlando, Fla., Aug. 5 to Aug. 9.

“In keeping with the emphasis on 2 Chronicles 7:14, from 7:14 a.m. to 7:14 p.m., Monday through Friday, Council attendees may come by the 7:14 prayer room in room 205 (ABC) in the Orange County Convention Center,” states John Maempa, director of the OPSC. “This spacious 5,200-square-foot prayer room will be set up to provide a variety of prayer opportunities.”

Maempa explains that attendees may pray privately at chairs located on both sides of the room. They also may use a special prayer guide to pray through five prayer stations that focus on the following: our nation, the Assemblies of God, U.S. and world missions, church planting and our schools.

At four other prayer stations, delegates may receive special prayer from prayer team members. These stations will focus on finances, healing, family and spiritual direction. Each of these four areas of need will be highlighted Tuesday through Friday. However, prayer may be received for these needs throughout the week. Delegates are encouraged to come by the room at any time that is workable during the day.

Council participants may also receive Holy Communion and prayer in the 7:14 prayer room. Communion elements and prayer partners will be available at all times.

“I am so thrilled to partner with John Bates and his team at the prayer room this year,” Maempa states. “Pastor John and his prayer team ministered powerfully to the national office family throughout February 2012, during which the team traveled each week from Waxahachie to Springfield and ministered in prayer Monday through Wednesday.”

Team members from Freedom Fellowship International prayed with national staff in 40 departments and work areas as well as with many individuals. A number of people received healing, and others were greatly encouraged and strengthened in their areas of ministry and service.

“This team knows how to pray,” Maempa adds. “They are sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and operate dynamically in His gifts. They are thoroughly Pentecostal. I believe the prayer times shared at General Council will be life-changing and transformational.”
