The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak, those watchmen of the walls! —Song of Solomon 5:7
The second test occurs when the watchmen or the leadership in the church strike and wound her and then take her covering away. Have fellow Christians—people to whom you have committed yourself—ever misunderstood you and risen up against you? Do you know what it is to stand bleeding and naked, feeling as if God Himself has left you? It appeared as if the maiden lost her entire inheritance in Him. She was stripped of the sense of His presence and of His favor in the church.

When misunderstandings and rejection from others enter my life, Jesus, teach me to remember Your sufferings and to abandon myself to You. Teach me to wait for the harvest times when the winter will be far gone.
When we stand for truth, sometimes even
the Lord’s servants will strike us. We must endure
the misunderstanding and rejection of other believers.
