There’s a weighty call from the Lord to return to the upper room in this new era. The upper room is a place of prayer. It’s a place of being in the Lord’s Presence and of not rushing away. There’s a fresh impartation of faith and boldness that is coming to the upper room from the Lord to go and do what He’s called us to do: “When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31). It’s an impartation to move into places we have never moved in before.
This is the era in which we’re going to be reintroduced to the power of God. The Lord told Moses: “I will do wonders such as have not been done in all the earth nor in any nation. And all the people among whom you live will see the work of the Lord, for it is a fearful thing that I will do with you” (Ex. 34:10b). God said this to Moses after the children of Israel had committed idolatry by worshipping the golden calf. They had broken their covenant with Him. Today, we’re living in an age of broken covenant. Our nations have broken their covenants with the Lord. Yes, personal miracles will continue to happen. However, we’ve entered a day and age where we’re going to see national miracles that have never been done before.
In this era we have to learn to live from the place of the upper room. It’s the place where we’ll find answers that we won’t be able to find anywhere else. My personal upper room is the river close to my home. As I walk along its banks, the Lord speaks to me. Recently, I was telling Him that I didn’t understand why the coronavirus restrictions hadn’t already been lifted. As I walked, I felt His loving hand pushing in on my heart. Then, all of a sudden I heard His still, small voice: “The restrictions haven’t been lifted yet because My people aren’t ready yet! I’m still preparing My people for what’s to come.”
