We learned what holiness is in the first article of “Untold Secrets to Live a Holy Life.” Strive to live a surrendered life without a religious spirit. Holiness is a heart issue. Your appearance is a reflection of internal holiness, not a condition. Consecration is important by separating yourself from things that are not of God. Remember, the beginning of holiness is the pursuit of holiness! It is a constant walk. Now, we are going to talk about the “how.”
You want to be holy? You must draw closer to God. The biggest enemy is not the world; the biggest enemy we have is religion! Religion will completely hinder your intimacy with God. This explains how some people remain stuck after so many years of being churchgoers. Apart from God, you can do nothing. John 15:5 (NIV), “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”
Anything that God created, anything He ordained, anything that belongs to God is holy. When you step under the blood covering of Jesus Christ, you are cleansed. Choosing Christ is choosing holiness. The power of God is found while abiding in Him. Holiness is a choice.
Rahab is a great example. Even though she was not living a holy life, she brought herself under the covering of the covenant. Because of her faith, God protected her from the calamity of Jericho. Jericho represents the first place that had to be destroyed for the Israelites to enter the Promised Land.
This is so powerful. God is showing us that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what you have done. Once you come under the covenant, you are cleansed, changed and made whole. You no longer live as you did before. God will take care of your past: all of your mistakes, promiscuity, bad decisions and every despicable thing. No matter what you have done in your past, if you come into faith with Jesus Christ, the blood covering will set you free from the stain of your past! {eoa}
