Every war is defined by who or what territory is involved. In World War I and World War II, the world’s nations were at war. In the Korean War, the region of Korea was involved. The Vietnam War took place in Vietnam.
In your spiritual battles against your enemy, you must also know where your battles will occur. Here are three keys to winning your spiritual battles against Satan:
1. We must first establish who we are fighting and where that battle occurs. Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
2. We don’t wrestle with one another or even earthly systems we face. Our opponent is not flesh and blood. The battle takes place in heavenly places. Not here on earth, on your job or in your house and with your family members. They are not your real enemy.
Remember, there are only two kingdoms worth your time and energy—the kingdom of God and Satan’s kingdom. Neither are of this world. Jesus preached about the kingdom both before His death and after His Resurrection. His message never changed. He taught the principle that a kingdom divided against itself could not stand. Your strategy must be one of unity with the kingdom of heaven against the true enemy, Satan. The enemy’s strategy against you is to confuse the who and where of the battle. You will never win a war if you fight the wrong opponent and never show up on the proper battleground.
Ephesians 6:14-18 then appropriates key No. 3:
3. Our proper battle armor. We lack nothing necessary to win every battle. We can win every time if we know who the enemy is, where the fight occurs and what armor to wear. {eoa}
