In a powerful and eye-opening conversation with Julie Hedenborg, author Jennifer Bagnaschi unpacks the mysteries of the supernatural realm, sharing insights from ex-witches, spiritual warfare encounters and her upcoming book The Devil’s Greatest Fear: How His Lack of Identity Reveals His Plan to Steal Yours. With boldness and clarity, Bagnaschi confronts spiritual ignorance in the Church and urges believers to wake up to the authority and identity they have in Christ.
One theme Bagnaschi explores is the phenomenon of astral projection and the “silver cord”—a spiritual lifeline mentioned in Ecclesiastes 12:6. She recounts conversations with former occultists who confirmed the reality of this cord that connects the spirit to the body. “If the silver cord is cut,” Bagnaschi explains, “the soul gets lost and can’t get back into the body.” She warns that venturing into the spirit realm apart from the Holy Spirit’s leading is illegal and dangerous.

Bagnaschi also draws from the late Earthquake Kelley, a former sorcerer turned minister, who discussed his belief that curses brought to America through witchcraft during the transatlantic slave trade may have even affected the weather. “He [claims] there were no tornadoes in America before sorcerers, unknowingly brought as slaves, cursed the land,” Bagnaschi shares.
For Bagnaschi, the bold exposure of the enemy’s tactics isn’t about fear—it’s about equipping the church. “The devil knows the power we have. But as long as we don’t know it, it’s free game for him,” she says. “Witches should not know more about the supernatural realm than Christians do.”
Addressing skeptics, especially those who believe the supernatural ended with the Bible, Bagnaschi emphasizes that the spiritual realm is not optional—it’s part of who we are. “God is supernatural, and if you’re made in His image, you’re supernatural too,” she says. “You can’t see love or joy, but they exist. You walk into a room after an argument, and you can feel it. That’s the supernatural at work.”
As Bagnaschi shares, her passion culminates in her new book, which dives deep into the devil’s lack of identity. “Satan, Lucifer, the devil—those are all titles. He has no name because he lost his identity when he fell,” Bagnaschi says. “And he’s trying to steal yours.”
