Ambassador Gonda credited Pastor Johnson and the American Christian community for bringing encouragement and faith during a critical time. “After the peace agreement signed with the blessing of President Donald Trump, people were skeptical,” Gonda shared. “But when Pastor Travis came, we saw the Christian community of America standing with us, praying for us. That gave us hope.”

The peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda marked a monumental step toward ending decades of conflict that have claimed over six million lives—more than any other current global conflict combined.
Pastor Johnson, a member of the National Faith Advisory Board, emphasized that this mission was born out of obedience and a willingness to be unashamed of the gospel. “God opens doors when you’re unembarrassed of Jesus,” he said. “This wasn’t about policy meetings—it was about prayer. One of our church members…has been interceding for the Congo for years, and those prayers opened this door.”
