Tuesday night prayer meetings were the most important service of the week for Brooklyn Tabernacle. Lives were radically transformed during this gathering. One night was even more impactful for the pastor, Jim Cymbala.
Chrissy, his daughter, had walked away from the Lord, and the lies of the enemy had taken root. The lies of her not being good enough or pretty enough only echoed the music she listened to that made her want to be the girl in the song. “Sin makes us look like a fool. I had given up everything to be with this man, and when he did not answer the phone anymore, something inside me snapped.” Desperation led to suicidal thoughts, but God had other plans for her life.
A note handed to Pastor Cymbala read, “It’s Chrissy’s night.” He then shared with the congregation that she was away from the Lord. They interceded for her in such a powerful way that touched heaven, and a miracle ensued.
Unbeknownst to the church, Chrissy’s life was hanging in the balance. She describes the moment when darkness was on one side of her bed and a bright light was on the other. The darkness spoke to the light, “I have her life, and now I will take her life.” The darkness pointed to her young baby girl in the crib across the room.
