Looking for love and acceptance, and trying to fill the empty place in her soul left by an absentee father, Teresa Cooper lived a life filled with rebellion, hard drinking and promiscuity. Having been taken to church off and on as a child, she was familiar with Jesus and the gospel. Raised in a mainline denomination that taught the once-saved-always-saved doctrine, she thought she was a Christian but experienced no real change in her life or heart. Not having a godly example at home and no true, biblical teaching kept her locked in her dark and destructive lifestyle well into her teen years.
In late December of 1975, God in His mercy spoke words of conviction and hope to her and turned her life around. In complete surrender and repentance, she began to follow the Lord and His plan for her life. That plan led her to Outreach Ministries of Alabama and their staff training school, designed to equip young men and woman for victory in their own lives and to help others find freedom in Christ. That experience and training gave her insight into how to help others who were dealing with the same problems from which she had been delivered.

Ken and Sonya Pounders are the hosts of the Conquer Addiction podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. They serve as directors of Outreach Ministries of Alabama INC., a Christian discipleship training center for young men overcoming addictions. OMA Inc., recently celebrated its 50th anniversary as a ministry. Ken is also a 1983 graduate of Outreach Ministries of Alabama. Ken and Sonya have devoted themselves to new church planting, missionary evangelism and residential discipleship ministry in the United States, Eastern Europe, Asia and Central America for 37 years. They reside in Valhermoso Springs, Alabama and have five children and three grandchildren.
