Creed Frontman Scott Stapp Says He’s ‘Penniless’

Scott Stapp Facebook Post

Rocker Scott Stapp made a name for himself as the frontman of Creed in the ’90s. Now in a 16-minute Facebook video posted Wednesday morning, he claims to be under a “vicious attack” that has left him “penniless” and living out of his car or in a Holiday Inn.

“I had no money, not even for gas or food,” said Stapp, who added that he ended up in the emergency room after two days of not eating.

Recently there were rumors that Stapp was dead or had relapsed into alcohol and drugs, but he denied the rumors by affirming that he is “sober as can be” and “safe as of right now in a hotel room.”

He said he has been under “vicious attack,” sharing that recently he had an audit conducted of his record company and personal finances.

“A lot of money was stolen from me or royalties not paid, so that’s when all hell began to break loose,” he said.

He also said he has been targeted by the Internal Revenue Service for what the IRS said was a “clerical error.” He said he is to receive his money back, but not for nine or 10 months.

Having been” harassed,” “stalked” and “slandered,” he is asking for a “a good lawyer that’s ready to fight.” He is documenting what has been happening to him recently and plans to continue making public statements via Facebook.

Stapp said he is praying for his enemies and believes that God will give him “a future and a hope.” He refers to his three children and said he wants a better America for them.

“I can’t sit back anymore and allow this to continue and allow my children to be embarrassed and humiliated by the actions of others, not their father.”

He said he rededicated his life to Christ in the last few years. He told his story in the 2012 autobiography Sinner’s Creed (Tyndale House Publishers).

“I’m not going to stop sharing what Christ has done in my life,” he said, but also reiterated his intent to pursue legal action. “I’m going to let the world know everything that’s been done to me over the last nine weeks.”
