As a foster parent to more than 15 children over the last five years, Harmony Klingenmeyer has learned firsthand the relationship that prophetic giftings and our identity in Jesus have with one another. Early on in their relationship, Klingenmeyer says she looked over at her now-husband, Scott, and she says the Holy Spirit just dropped a word down in her spirit about him. And she says the word was: “You are called to be a father to a generation of fatherless sons.”
Klingenmeyer says she remembers thinking, “Holy Spirit, if you told me that so that I would fall in love with him; It worked. All I needed was a prophetic word from the Lord, and my heart was set.”
When she later told Scott what the Lord had laid on her heart, Scott looked at her and said, “Harmony, I can’t father children.”
Klingenmeyer says through the prophetic word God gave her for Scott, she came to understand that “the purpose of the prophetic is to awaken within us what God has destined us to be.” By speaking that word over his life, Klingenmeyer spoke identity over him.
Ultimately, it was this word and a divine encounter with a foster mom that propelled them on their journey to becoming adoptive parents to three children. Catch the full episode here. {eoa}
