Kingdom transformation flows out into the believer’s “metron,” their “assigned area of influence,” starting with family. As the kingdom transforms the family and breaks the sinful legacy of previous generations, it creates generational momentum that releases the exponential blessing of Abraham into all nations.
But there’s more. The believer’s metron extends beyond their family. Every believer’s “assigned area of influence” includes their work and community. As the believer is equipped by the ekklesia, they are empowered to release kingdom influence everywhere they serve in love.
As believers serve in love, the kingdom comes in every realm of life. Like Joseph with Pharaoh and Daniel with Nebuchadnezzar, believers are placed in strategic, key positions to shape culture as salt and light in the world.
As the ekklesia expands in the earth, kingdom reach expands with it. “Personal metrons” are enlarged by Spirit-empowered kingdom influencers, which then leads to a wider dominion over “regional metrons” pioneered and established by apostolic centers. Like yeast in three measures of dough, the kingdom takes dominion in heaven, earth and under-earth.
Principalities and powers are restrained by the mighty power of God. Strongmen are bound and strongholds are broken. Demonic forces are scattered and enslaved people are set free.
As people are transformed, culture is transformed. The kingdom comes in every realm of life—family, religion, education, government, business, the arts and entertainment, science and technology, health and medicine, on and on. Wherever people live, work and play; that’s where the kingdom comes.
And this highlights the essential difference between the gospel of the kingdom and the deeply entrenched “philosophy of progress” that took root in the enlightenment: salvation starts in the heart. Only Christ can save us; we cannot save ourselves. And as He saves us, He saves the world. The kingdom of God comes in the world through transformed people.
